082202 - Quarter Moon
When the moon enters the half phase, it is 90-degrees from the sun. This is also the position
in the sky where maximum polarization takes place. Using a old manual-focus Nikon mirror lens,
I was able to attach a 112mm polarizing filter on the front of the lens, thus rendering the
background sky a deep blue.
The image was captured with a Nikon F5 and 1000mm f/11 on Velvia 100; Gitzo tripod.
